CarePartners Senior Leadership Team

Tracy Buchanan, PT, MBA
President & Chief Executive Officer

photoTracy Buchanan serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of CarePartners Health Services, a nonprofit provider of post-acute care serving over 3,000 patients each day.  With over 1,100 employees and $80 million in annual revenue, CarePartners is one of the largest employers in Buncombe County.  

Tracy began her career as a physical therapist at CarePartners over 20 years ago and has held a variety of leadership roles prior to being named CEO in January 2009.  Tracy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in physical therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee.  She is very active in the WNC community and chairs or sits on numerous nonprofit boards.

Tracy lives in Asheville with her husband, Scott Buchanan.  Her son Andrew recently graduated from Appalachian State University and her daughter Julia attends UNC-Chapel Hill.

 

Gregg Dixon
Chief Financial Officer

photoGregg has served as Chief Financial Officer for CarePartners since June 2011. In this role, he is directly responsible for all financial matters for CarePartners. Gregg has more than 20 years of financial management experience, encompassing a steady progression of increasing responsibilities and accomplishments. He most recently served as senior vice president of finance for a health care system in New York City for five years. The system comprised a 287-bed acute/psychiatric hospital and an extensive outpatient network of 13 satellite locations. He has also served in several financial leadership roles in Atlanta, Georgia, including CFO for a 120-bed hospital, CFO for the Georgia Medicaid Program and State Health Benefit Plan, and corporate controller and director of internal audit for a large home health agency. He is a graduate of Georgia State University with a bachelor of administration in accounting. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He serves on a number of boards for local community organizations. He and his wife Terri live in Asheville.

 

Mike Parmer, DO CPE
Chief Medical Officer

Mike brings 30+ years of experience in hospice and palliative care, including 6 years as Medical Director for Hospice and Palliative care for the McLaren Health System in Michigan. He will provide the overall leadership for the hospice and home health programs at CarePartners and will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of quality hospice and home health care. He is committed to providing safe, seamless and cost-effective patient transitions. Dr. Parmer is passionate about ensuring best practices for exceptional customer service to colleagues and patients alike. "Healthcare is an ever changing environment. What works today may not work tomorrow. Our goal is to be aware and flexible enough to adapt quickly to changes to minimize the disruptions in care that our patients need. Top quality and exceptional care are not negotiable."

Dr. Parmer and his wife, Deborah, live in Hendersonville. They have 2 sons and 2 grandchildren.

 

Cathleen Adams, MBA, RN, CHPCA
Chief Nursing Officer

 

Cathleen Adams became CarePartners Chief Nursing Officer in October of 2014. In her role, Cathleen is responsible for the development and overall management of post-acute nursing services thoughout the organization including the establishment of nursing standards of practice as well as patient standards of care.

Cathleen brings more than 18 years of clinical experience and is certified as a hospice and palliative care administrator. She served as vice president of clinical services for Midwest CareCenter in Glenview, IL and became the chief operating officer of the organization in December 2012, overseeing the hospice and palliative care operations. As COO, she was responsible for implementing collaborative agreements with some of Chicago's top hospital and healthcare systems, including preferred partner relationships with Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She has worked in virtually all areas of hospice clinical management, and has worked as executive director of VistaCare in Temple, Texas and as an executive director specialist for Odyssey Healthcare. She has had responsibilities for a variety of patient care services, such as admissions, direct patient care, education and outreach, compliance and care coordination. She also is a curriculum trainer in end-of-life nursing education.

Cathleen has a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas and completed her masters in business administration at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. She was also a Captain in the U.S. Army and worked for the Army Nurse Corps from 2008 to 2014.

Jeff grew up in Brooklyn, NY, graduated from St. Francis College and left the "big 8" accounting firm of Arthur Young & Co. to move to Asheville with Akzona, Inc. in 1971. He's worked as a CPA partner for more than 40 years and is "mostly retired" from Gould Killian CPA Group, P.A. Jeff has volunteered on numorous entities' boards over the years, including CarePartners since its formation. Jeff and his wife, Barbara, have 6 children and sixteen grandchildren, reside in north Asheville and are members of St. Eugene church.
