Orthopedic Problems

Hip replacement. Back surgery. Fractures. Joint disease. Knee replacement. Sports injury. These are among the multitude of conditions that are described as, or can cause, orthopedic problems.

Solutions for orthopedic problems are available at CarePartners.
CarePartners has decades of experience helping people with a wide range of orthopedic problems and musculoskeletal conditions. Patients who come to CarePartners make significant improvements in important ways.

Experts in orthopedic rehabilitation are on your team.
Members of our Orthopedic Program team of experts look at each person’s specific circumstances to develop a treatment plan for that patient. Led by a physiatrist (a doctor who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation), this interdisciplinary team includes therapists and nurses highly trained and experienced in orthopedic rehabilitation. They work in collaboration with the patient’s orthopedic doctor to assure the fastest rehabilitation possible.

Receive coordinated care at a level that’s right for you.
  • Inpatient rehabilitation
Patients who need 24-hour physician and nursing care are admitted to our inpatient program at CarePartners Rehabilitation Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. They participate in a minimum of three hours of physical and occupational therapy each day, designed to promote:
    • Ambulation (getting around)
    • Range of motion
    • Strengthening
    • Self-care ability, including dressing
    • Home safety
    • Homemaking skills
    • Community re-entry
Patients may also participate in aquatic therapy in our warm-water pool. Aquatic therapy uses exercises and techniques to decrease pain, increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, and manage swelling.

A nurse care manager coordinates the treatment plan. As patients progress in their rehab, care managers also help with the transition from one level of care to another.
  • Outpatient rehabilitation
Patients who don't require an inpatient stay may choose to participate in rehabilitation therapy at any one of our conveniently located outpatient clinics. Our outpatient therapists are specially trained in orthopedic, sports medicine, aquatic, and manual therapies.
  • Rehabilitation at home
For patients who require therapies at home, our home health therapists specialize in the treatment of bone, joint and muscle conditions. Therapies are begun within 48 hours of discharge from the acute care hospital. The number of visits per week is dependent on patient need.
  • Orthotics and prosthetics services
Services include immediate post-operative prostheses (IMPOP), post-operative spinal braces made to physician's specifications, and custom designed prostheses for all levels of amputation.
  • Private duty nursing, personal care, and companion services
For patients and their families who need assistance at home, from running errands, shopping, and planning meals, to full-time private duty skilled nursing care.
